AF1 One Night Only

 

On Sunday December 10th, 2006 Nike hosted a once in a lifetime event dubbed “One Night Only,” a celebration of the 25th year anniversary of the Air Force 1. The AF1, one of the most popuar Nike shoes ever created, was a performance breakthrough in 1982 as the first basketball sneaker to incorporate Nike Air technology. It has sense evolved from a historic sports innovation, to the most idolized sneaker in music, art and sports over the past two decades. The event featured a performance by Kanye West, Nas, Rakim and KRS-1, who performed an original track produced by Def Jam Co-founder Rick Rubin, celebrating the legacy of the AF1. For those who didn’t get a chance to attend the event, MTV will air a special segment on 1/13/2007 at 11pm titled “One Night Only” so you can see just what went down on this special night in Nike history. Also be on the lookout for the the 25th anniversary AF1 featuring the “Original Six” NBA players who endorsed and first rocked the AF1 in professional sports.
