Nike designer Eric Avar seems to be ‘the man’ these days. After years of campaigning for a McFly-esque sneaker release from Nike, by sneakerheads and pop culture aficionados, Eric Avar is the one person who has listened and delivered. Welcome the Hyperdunk 2015, commonly refered to as the “Marty McFly” or Hyperdunk “McFly”. The most anticipated colorway, in a series of limited colorway releases, leading up to the worldwide retail debut of the Hyperdunk Sneaker on July 27th.
The Hyperdunk 2015 is inspired by the Nike concept shoe, created for the 1980’s character Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) in the 1989 blockbuster film; Back to the Future II. The Hyperdunk 2015 made it’s inaugural release at UNDFTD in Santa Monica, CA just about two weeks ago – and welcomed itself to the world in grand fashion. With 100’s of sneakerheads lined up for as much as 24 hours the release kicked off with NBA MVP Kobe Bryant rolling up in nothing less than a DeLorean. Only 100 pair were released, and those lucky enough to get their hands on a pair have witnessed the many details that call to the film. This weekend marks the second coming of the Hyperdunk 2015, scheduled to release tomorrow, Saturday July12th at Nike House of Hoops (in NYC) as well as Niketown and other select Nike retailers worldwide.
